Building Awareness is a great way to begin to connect to your inner voice. Your body is trying to communicate with you every moment of the day, but often we ignore the conversation until it becomes painful or debilitating. Use your phone to set reminders to pause and breathe during your day. Put everything down, and practice deep belly breathing or channel breathing (check out the video below). Carry a notepad to write down every little moment you notice yourself feeling gratitude throughout the day. At the end of the day, read all of them and reflect on your day. Letting someone you haven't talked to in a while know that you are thinking of them is gratifying to the soul. Also, it lets others know they matter. You might be surprised at how many people begin doing the same for you. Immerse yourself in nature. Taking a break in your day to get up and walk outside, preferably by many trees and plants, will boost your immunity, energy and balance your stress hormones. Leave the technology at the desk - feel, see, smell, hear nature around you. Music and dancing are great healers and bliss bringers. Allow yourself to just let go and move organically. Tell the mind to be quiet and just let the body do its thing. Bring those arms over the head and let them move, pick up a knee and wiggle around. It doesn't need to be symmetric or organized, in fact it's better if it isn't! Sit for a moment with your hands resting on your heart. Feel it beat below your hands. Ask "What does JOY feel like to me?" Not with words or explanations, just breathe and allow joy to be felt. |
