When healthy foods cause health problems. It is widely accepted knowledge that processed foods are damaging to your health. We know that the chemicals in processed foods can lead to obesity, hormone imbalances, headaches, arthritis, allergies, asthma and more. But why do some continue to experience these symptoms even after they have removed processed and highly refined foods from their diets? It could be that you had food sensitivities to certain foods. Food sensitivities are different from food allergies, the most obvious difference is that food allergies cause almost immediate reactions from hives to swelling of the throat. However, food sensitivities are a delayed onset reaction. They may occur hours to days after eating the food. While they both stimulate the immune system, they are triggering different branches of the immune system and will show up in blood work. It is true that not all food allergy or food sensitivity tests are 100% accurate at this time, however, through many clinical experiences and patient testimonies there have been great success in helping people re-gain their health via removal of the food culprits. Depending on the severity, you may be able to add some or all of the foods back into your diet after a certain time period of removing them from the diet. Some, will need to continue to eat some foods only on a rotational basis and others may need to eliminate a food or two for life. Every person is unique in this aspect of health and that is why getting tested and following a customized eating plan is the most effective way to correct your digestive tract and therefore, bring balance back to the immune, endocrine (hormone) and nervous system. The Gold Standard test for food sensitivities is a food elimination/rotation diet. This requires more discipline and time than most people want to give to their food. If you have been on medications, consume processed foods or synthetic sugars (blue, pink or yellow packets) I would highly recommend making some changes to your diet. If you have cleaned up your diet, but still suffer from cravings, bloating, joint aches, seasonal allergies, migraines, anxiety or irritability or difficulty losing weight, I recommend asking questions about food sensitivity testing to see if it might be a good option for you. There are many testing options available and some are covered by some insurance companies. Please contact us with any questions or for a free consultation to discuss your symptoms, health goals and if food sensitivity testing is a good place for you to begin relieving your symptoms and reaching your health goals.
